Mother Okazaki

She is Takashi and Hiroyuki's mother and raised them both on her own after divorcing their father. She favored Takashi and praised his intelligence, even sending him money for rent and living expenses years after he dropped out of medical school. After Takashi commits suicide, she expects support from Hiroyuki, who begins to understand the pressure his brother had been subjected to. Unable to cope with Takashi's death, she soon slips into denial, thinking of Takashi as still living with them, putting down a plate for him at every meal, and even buying clothes in his size. She also begins delving into different spiritual beliefs and seeing scammer psychics, eventually convincing herself that her son couldn't have committed suicide.
