Kanji Sawatari

Sae's childhood friend and also childhood "sweetheart". When he announced he was moving he promised when he came back that they would get married. Her nickname for him was monkey boy. Though Kanji still seems very much smitten with Sae, Sae is resistant because she sees him as almost a symbol of the frail girl she used to be and of those memories she wants to forget.
