Skull Knight calling Guts a 'struggler' is the most accurate description of his character. He's not a chosen one, he's not destined for greatness—he's just a man who refuses to die. Every demon he kills, every wound he survives, is just him struggling one more day. And somehow, that's more heroic than any prophecy.

The Eclipse isn't just a dark scene—it's a complete inversion of every trope. The hero doesn't save the day; he's pinned down and forced to watch everything be taken from him. Griffith's betrayal works because we believed in him too. Miura made the audience experience the same loss as Guts.

The Berserk armor is the most terrifying power-up in manga because it literally erases Guts' pain receptors and humanity. Every time he uses it, he loses a piece of himself. Miura created a weapon that wins battles but loses the war for Guts' soul.

Guts isn't a tragic character because bad things happen to him—he's tragic because he keeps choosing to live despite them. Every morning he wakes up and chooses to keep fighting when he has every reason to give up. That's not just resilience; it's the most human defiance in all of fiction.

Guts choosing to protect Casca instead of chasing Griffith is the most important decision in Berserk. He gave up revenge—the thing that kept him alive—for love. That's not weakness. That's the moment Guts becomes more than a weapon of vengeance.
