Franky Franklin

Franky is an affable and sociable person who maintains a wide network of acquaintances throughout Berlint. His outgoing personality allows him to interact easily with people from many walks of life, particularly within the city's underworld, where he has established extensive connections as an informant. Although he often complains about the favors Loid asks of him, he remains dependable and repeatedly assists by providing intelligence, equipment, and logistical support, even when the tasks involve considerable risk. thumb|left|One of Franky's many failed romances Despite frequently warning Loid not to become emotionally attached to others due to the nature of espionage work, Franky himself is prone to developing romantic feelings for the women he encounters. His attempts at romance are usually unsuccessful, either because his affection is not returned or because the women already have partners. These repeated romantic failures are a recurring source of humor in his life. As an independent operator, he expects payment for his services and may initially refuse dangerous requests before reconsidering when offered sufficient rewards. Although he often grumbles about being roped into Loid's side jobs—such as babysitting Anya and Bond or participating in elaborate schemes like creating a fake cartoon episode—his attitude quickly improves once he receives payment. This reflects the practical way he sustains himself through his skills, inventions, and information networks. However, Franky is not entirely self-serving, as he is still willing to help others even when the personal benefit is limited, like when he skipped on a date to save his fellow informants from the SSS. An enthusiastic inventor, Franky frequently develops unusual gadgets and devices for surveillance, infiltration, and other purposes. Many of these inventions are experimental or impractical and often malfunction or fail to impress others. Despite these setbacks, Franky remains optimistic and persistent, treating failures as part of the trial-and-error process. He once hoped that his inventions could improve the world and provide him with financial success, a goal he continues to pursue through his constant experimentation. thumb|left|Franky's trauma from serving in the war Franky's worldview is strongly influenced by his experiences during the Second East-West War of Unification. Having served in the Ostanian army, he witnessed firsthand the suffering and loss caused by the conflict and ultimately concluded that the war resulted from diplomatic failures rather than genuine hostility between ordinary people. Disillusioned by the senseless violence, he deserted the army. The experience left him with lingering survivor's guilt over the fate of his fellow soldiers, which later motivates him to support charitable efforts for wounded veterans and other victims of the war. thumb|Franky's desire to rebel against Ostania Although he continues to live in Ostania, Franky openly resents the country's rigid and oppressive political system. Rather than aligning himself with any particular faction, he prefers to operate independently. By maintaining information networks, forging documents, and occasionally assisting Westalian agents such as Loid and Fiona, Franky believes he is quietly pushing back against the system that he blames for the war and its consequences.

Franky is a light-skinned, average-height man with a square-shaped face, round black-brown eyes, and an upturned nose. He has large curly black-brown hair and a short goatee on his chin. Franky usually wears a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, an orange tie, purple dress pants with black suspenders, orange and white striped socks, and brown shoes. He also sports glasses with a thick red frame and an earring on his left earlobe.
