Annie's father. The Moffat family is the most prestigious family in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) and they have met James several times on business. They take a liking to Meg because they think she's ''a pretty and nice girl'', but they soon mistakenly believe that ''Meg is dating Laurie'.'
