Urako Sakai

Urako is Satoko's mother. 20 years prior, she had to flee and leave Satoko behind due to being captured and interrogated for her association with the Communist Party. She confesses to having slept with a lot of men and that Doukurou is likely not Satoko's real father. In the present, she is still involved with the Communist Party and helps smuggle people to North Korea, which she sees as "paradise". Under the pen name "Fuhenboku Sakai", Urako authors the mystery novel "The Grey Maze", which contains plot points and details eerily similar to the events that took place in the clock tower.
