Hisa is the one of the ten rulers of Hell, responsible for overseeing the punishment of sinners sent there. Even though he is referred to as "Enma", that is not his real name, rather the name of his position, which he inherited from the previous one who held it. His real name is Hisa, which he left behind when he became a demon. Despite taking a different partner every day, he propositions Takimura daily to become his lover. Whenever he isn't busy with official tasks, he likes to garden. No voice actors have been added to this character. Hisa comes off as a very kind and welcoming person, bringing in the injured Demon Slayers without hesitation and providing them with commodities for recovery. Despite Inosuke Hashibira's impolite nature, she proved to be very patient with him and doesn't appear to be affected by his remarks. Inosuke noted that even with his enhanced perception, Hisa's kind demeanor made it impossible for him to detect her presence because she bore no ounce of ill-will towards him.

Hisa is a short, old woman with wrinkled skin and thick eyebrows. Her bulky, gray hair is tied into a medium sized bun with two strands poking out behind her ears. In most of her appearances, Hisa is seen wearing a plain maroon kimono with a purple obi. She also wears a pair of black zōri sandals with white tabi socks.
