🧠 Personality
Genya refusing Tanjiro's offer for a rice cracker. Genya was initially a hostile and ill-tempered individual; a "lone wolf" who refused any help from others and did not show any interest in being polite or having any manners. During Final Selection, he roughly handled Kanata Ubuyashiki by grabbing her hair and yelling at her due to his impatience, and he later provoked Tanjiro Kamado into directly confronting him with physical force as an attempt to diffuse the situation. His ill temper and brash way of speaking heavily resembles that of his older brother, Sanemi; both their behaviors mirrored that of their abusive father. However, although he was still brash, Genya mellowed with age. He became more open to cooperation during the battle against Hantengu, the Upper Rank Four, where he worked alongside Tanjiro, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Nezuko Kamado. After some time, he learned to become more sociable and less ill-mannered towards others, particularly towards Tanjiro and his friends. Genya also appears to be very confident in battle, telling Aizetsu to focus on him despite the latter already having stabbed Genya with his Yari, and later announced his name to the demon and declared that he is the one who will kill him. thumb|Even as a child, Genya was determined to protect his loved ones. As a child, Genya was caring and loving towards his family, looking out for them due to their father's abuse and being the second oldest of his siblings. His protective attitude stems from a promise he had made with Sanemi following their father's death, when he stated that it was now their job to be a role model for their siblings and look after their mother. He was deeply regretful of his inability to save his brothers and sisters following their mother's transformation and blamed himself heavily for his own accusation of Sanemi killing her, despite acknowledging later that he was not at fault and she transformed into an uncontrollable demon. During Sekido's near fatal attack on Genya, he shed tears of regret when he believed he was about to die without ever getting the chance to properly apologize to Sanemi for his harsh words, only encouraged to push past it when Tanjiro had rescued him and placed his faith onto him. Sanemi's refusal to acknowledge Genya made him insecure as he came to realize just how weak he is compared to his companions. When he reunited with his brother during his section of Hashira Training, he attempts to apologize and make amends with his brother, but is left demoralized when Sanemi berates him after threatening to kill him. His desire to reconnect with his brother was so strong that he confesses his habit of eating demons to fight, knowing that the practice was taboo. Nonetheless, he did whatever he could to help his allies, even if it got him horribly maimed in the process, such as shielding Tanjiro from Aizetsu's Blood Demon Art, and playing a pivotal role in the battle against Kokushibo. Despite his brother's harsh rebukes, he bore no ill will towards him, a belief reinforced by Tanjiro and eventually by Sanemi himself. Genya's newfound maturity and calmer disposition. His abrasive and hostile persona did not last, in part due to Tanjiro's influence and camaraderie, and the two would form a close friendship afterwards. After the attack on the Swordsmith Village, Genya is shown to be a much more pacified and caring individual, giving a warm smile when Tanjiro tearfully reunites with a now sunlight immune Nezuko, inwardly congratulating him for his happiness. Later on, when Sanemi decides to attack Tanjiro for defending Genya's choice to be a Demon Slayer, he pleaded with his brother to spare him. When he encounters Tanjiro again while he is taking part in Gyomei's training, Genya thanks him for supporting him during the incident at Sanemi's dojo, and would later teaching him how to use Repetitive Action; both of them would also share a laugh at Gyomei's expense. In the evening, Genya offers to help Tanjiro cook onigiri and later asks Tanjiro when his emotions were most worked up in the past in an attempt to further help in his training. When he pauses, Genya immediately apologizes for potentially bringing back haunting memories and gives Tanjiro further encouragement. In spite of his newly gained maturity, Genya can occasionally slip back into his confrontational habits, most notably when he punched Zenitsu Agatsuma and scuffled with Inosuke Hashibira after they had insulted Sanemi and him respectively, though these instances were more than likely a result of these two's strong and stubborn personalities clashing with his own. In the fight against Kokushibo, though Genya was largely indisposed due to being horizontally bisected by the demon, he still demonstrated an intense devotion to help others, as he ate a lock of Kokushibo's hair, and later willingly swallowed a fragment of his extremely sharp sword, all with the goal of protecting his mentor and elde...

When he made his debut during Final Selection, Genya was shorter, comparable to Tanjiro in stature, and was visibly younger in appearance. His hair was styled into a buzz cut, with only a small clump of messy black hair left to grow on the top of his head as a short mohawk. Genya is seen wearing his purple, sleeveless yukata over a plain black shirt with long sleeves. When they meet again in the Butterfly Mansion, Genya now towers over him while maintaining his outwardly harsh looks and perpetual scowl. When he meets Tanjiro again in the Swordsmith Village, Genya's physical appearance was less intense and intimidating, and although still tall and rugged, his more youthful features were visible. By the time Hashira Training had commenced, his eyes became softer and less wild, and his expression is visible less sullen and harsh, coinciding with his newly gain maturity and sense of camaraderie. As a child, Genya sported a similar-looking mohawk to his matured appearance and he wore the same sleeves purple yukata over a black long-sleeved shirt. He received his signature scar from an attack by his transformed mother. After consuming a piece of Aizetsu's flesh, Genya gained many physical qualities reminiscent of a demon. The tips of his hair gained yellow highlights, his mouth grew fangs, his fingernails grew long and sharp, and his eyes became a demonic combination of black sclera and yellow irises. After consuming a piece of Kokushibo's broken flesh sword, he grows features identical to the Upper Rank demon, such as having his longer curled hair, veiny-patterned eyes with golden irises and red sclera, and a large flame-like mark on his top right forehead that resembling his, although it is unknown if this was an imitation of Kokushibo's physical features or a genuine Mark.
⚡ Abilities
Overall Abilities
As one of the five that survived Final Selection, Genya possesses a relatively strong foundation as a Demon Slayer even without utilizing a Breathing Style. His skills were exemplified in the battle against Hantengu, the fourth strongest Upper Rank, when he snuck up on two of his clones and successfully shot them both and proceeded to decapitate them in quick succession. When he consumed the flesh of Aizetsu, Genya managed to overpower the Upper Rank, stabbing Aizetsu into a tree with his own Yari and ripping off his head. When Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, was nearly struck and killed by Zohakuten, Genya, along with Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, managed to save her before the attack connected. After gaining power from Zohakuten, Genya became strong enough to pick up and fling a gigantic tree without much effort, surprising the likes of Tanjiro and Nezuko, and then proceeded to throw 3 more. Genya was also capable of ripping both of Urami's arms off. Against Kokushibo, the strongest Upper Rank, Genya consumed his hair and a chunk of his flesh katana, gaining enough strength to develop his own Blood Demon Art which played a pivotal role in the defeat of the Upper Rank demon.
