Fumiko Mifune

On the surface, Fumiko generally seems like a very upbeat woman who constantly has a smile on her face. However, this is only a façade that she uses, as Fumiko is revealed to be a psychopath, and she is fully prepared to initiate Public Safety's plan to sacrifice the lives of 10,000 children, claiming she wants to ensure humanity's evolution by forming a contract with the Aging Devil. This is shown to be a deception; her duplicitous nature is evidenced by a lack of sympathy for others and allegiance only to her own self-preservation, as she has turned various humans all over the world into duplicates of herself via sexual intercourse. All of Fumiko's clones have developed their own personalities. Each of them are stationed around the world and met up at a secret location in a villa at unknown points of the year to exchange information and just catch up on their shared experiences, with one commenting that she is surprised that most of the clones developed their own fears and were contrastingly different from one another. The original Fumiko of Japan is a woman who is notorious for her sexually predatory behavior; she gropes Denji's crotch without his consent and then offers to have sex with him despite them never having met before and their significant age difference. Her casual demeanor regarding these actions suggests a potential traumatic history that has led to desensitization. This behavior could possibly be explained by her contract with the STD Devil, which may have divorced the act from its conventional meaning, leading her to use her sexuality as a tool, such as when she gives Denji a naked photo of herself. Her attraction to Chainsaw Man also seems somewhat obsessive, stating that she fell in love with her "Senpai" because he is the "one and only" Chainsaw Man. Overall, Fumiko's behavior can be seen as chaotic, predatory, and unprofessional, encompassing non-consensual groping of a minor, proposing sexual acts in semi-public locations, encouraging disturbing acts for her entertainment, stalking, voyeurism, and making persistent sexual and romantic advances. Fumiko's hypersexuality can be explained as a potential response to sexual assault, where individuals sometimes become hypersexual in an attempt to "take back control". Hirofumi Yoshida is also seen reprimanding her for not taking her job seriously and reminding her to keep focused on her mission. On top of this, she puts on an almost fetishistic persona of a high-schooler. She seems to care little about her job, singing karaoke instead of protecting Denji from attackers, revealing secret information to him without thinking, and allowing Denji to be recruited into the Chainsaw Man Church when he is not supposed to turn into Chainsaw Man anymore. She also loves fighting, as she grabs a baseball bat to join Denji fighting the mob instead of singing the song's second verse, saying that it seemed "more fun". Furthermore, it appears that one of the main reasons why she fell in love with Denji was due to his physical prowess. However, Fumiko also resents Chainsaw Man to some extent, as he didn't save her parents while fighting the Gun Fiend. Despite that, she witnessed Denji crying and saw him for what he really was, a teenager forced into a devil-hunting job. From that point on, she made up her mind and wanted to save him, claiming to be interested in Denji as a person and not the Devil within him. Although claiming to be a fan of Denji, Fumiko's devotion to him is rather limited as she seems to put her position as a Public Safety Devil Hunter above him and isn't willing to go beyond the scope of her job, happily telling Nayuta she isn't going to risk her life to save him. When Nayuta tries to appeal to her conscience by reminding her that Denji's pets died in a house fire, Fumiko replies that those were "only pets", not his family, showing her lack of sympathy for others and a cruel sense of humor. When Denji gets detained and Public Safety plans to dismember him, Fumiko gleefully asks Yoshida if she can pluck out some of Denji's hair and nails before his body becomes official state property. Yoshida remarks that he thought she was a fan, to which Fumiko replies that she indeed is and that she wants to add his body parts to her fan collection, which could be seen as human trophy collecting. After seeing that she's on the losing side in the battle between Public Safety and the Aging Devil against the Chainsaw Devil, she says that in her dying moment she will side with the likelier winner, after which she betrays Public Safety and even kills one of the Devil Hunters present. Later, she tells Denji that she ultimately sides with the War Devil's goals and justifies her actions by saying that he shouldn't defeat her, as the world is already constantly at war, even without her involvement, and that he should erase the Death Devil instead, as Public Safety's plan to erase the Aging Devil had failed. She ultimately wants to survive by any means neces...

Fumiko Mifune is a jolly young woman with short black hair. Her hair has a rather unkempt appearance though her bangs are tied into two ponytails at each side of her face. Fumiko's eyes are unusually large with giant black irises, containing a red circle within them. Her unusual eyes could be explained by her Devil contract, as was the case with Akane Sawatari. Her demeanor is also quite unique, as she is usually seen wearing a wide, uncanny smile on her face. Despite her age, she dresses like a high school student and usually wears the same school uniform that Asa Mitaka and other girls from Fourth East High School have. Her appearance is considered "cute" by other characters. Outside of school, Fumiko wears black pants and a cropped shirt that shows off her midriff. When on duty, she wears her Public Safety uniform. Fumiko's inexperience as a Devil Hunter leads to her failing at handling anything thrown in her way. At first glance, Fumiko appears to be skilled enough to handle the risks of a Public Safety Devil Hunter. However, it is shown that Fumiko is rather inexperienced and new to the job, as she constantly fails to protect Denji and Nayuta from harm. In fact, she never bothers to put herself in danger to save Denji, despite her so-called claims of wanting to protect him. Fumiko's inexperience prevents her from being of any help when a dire situation arises, often leading to her being bailed out by those with more experience. A notable example of this is when facing off against Barem Bridge's horde of Pseudo-Chainsaw People, Quanxi, a veteran Devil Hunter, had to bail her out as she wasn't able to do anything in that situation. Even when armed against Barem and the Weapon Humans, she was unable to fight back and ended up being taken as a hostage.
